First of all, I apologise for the rubbish pictures, the purple boudoir lighting was not ideal for delectable imagery...
Aside from the fact that the staff were stand-offish to say the least, this was a wonderful evening to dine with with friends, thanks to the absolutely wonderful and lovely Alix, who as always is a fantastic host and great company.
Served at the elaborate bar, the cocktails were a real strong point in here. After pushing to try cocktails of our choice we finally had a beautiful array of coloured drinks that tasted just as good as they looked, favourites included the Dark Side Of The Moon mixed with fresh yellow tomatoes , and the Flaming Lips a fruity little red number.
The starters were probably the best; the duck breast, watercress & pomegranate seed salad was very popular, the beef carpaccio with rocket and parmesan plus a separate jug of rich balsamic was lovely and the juicy mackerel on a bed of carrot & radish shavings was pretty yum. My favourite out of the mains was the Dover sole and buttered cabbage but I must say that overall the food looked better than it tasted.
Anyway, we finished with a bang with our deserts, which were good, chocolate curled crisp with ice cream, pear torte and a rather nice figgy sticky pudding.
