Dolce & Gabbana Autumn/Winter 2010

Backstage

Short Film

Bits from the show

The end walk

Whilst catching the latest in the live stream phenomenon, I took a few screen grabs of some little bits that I thought were nice.
The stream opened with a backstage collection preview, showing close ups of the hair, make up and jewelery.
The show then opened with a short black and white film showing the progression of the collection.

The soundtrack was "Come What May" from the film Moulin Rouge which set a powerful but romantic mood for the show.
Tailored jackets galore, lace and sheer items playing a big role and hints of dark greens and reds, nudes and gold, cute bustiers, sexy, smart, chic- exactly what Milan is for!

The models came out at the end synchronized in their slick matching jackets and pants; a brilliant end to the show.

Best Of The Rest LFW- Aquascutum and Burberry Prosum

Aquascutum

Long is the new short and Aquascutum have hit the nail on the head; they have presented us with the new look of the season- fashionable simplistic chic.
The subtle colours of monochrome and nude, hints of leather and chiffon and the patch pockets and belts are right on trend, finishing with tousled Autumn hair that anyone can pull off;
the perfect capsule collection.

Burberry Prorsum

It is great to know that Burberry; one of our best and oldest British design houses have once again come back to show in London.
Superb military/Aviator theme with juicy colour palette of olive greens, navy blues, blacks and browns.
Lovely layering and mix of womens and menswear.
Love the leather and sheepskin jackets, I see the 90's managed to creep its way in a smidge in the form of thigh high snakeskin boots but it works.

Best Of The Rest LFW- Heikki Salonen and Boudicca

Heikki Salonen

Amazing collection, love the dark colours of reds and greys, shoes are gorgeous.
Love that it is simplistic but still with lots going on; beautiful tailoring, slick hair and make up and the finishing touches of the glasses are a favourite of mine.

Boudicca

Absolutely beautiful imagery from Boudicca.
I love the way it is shot and how the garments are presented within different settings.

The collections from B O U D I CC A are stories, short scenes from films, that at times are simple and reference the obvious, at others become complex and ill fitting. The modern paranoia of human life, the beauty and the vanity of modern life, the anger of another, the fake lies that we are told and the real truths we forget...

It’s an unspoken language, that garments have; more function than just covering the body. There is an intimate relationship formed between the wearer and the garment that Boudicca demand to be examined.

Boudicca’s design reflects this demand, this journey, this social documentation, taking into account an emotional response to the system that is life. Boudicca strive to see a future of people wearing clothes that express a person’s feelings and emotions to the world they exist in. Not clothes as escapism, but of expression. A constant evolution between light and dark, hot and cold, hard and soft, right and wrong, day and night, male and female, rich and poor, fast and slow, now and never, forever and ever.

Best Of The Rest LFW- Unique and Todd Lynn

I wanted to post about the rest of my favourite shows from London before Paris comes along and blows us all away!

Unique

Super cute hibernation chic from Unique this season, still extremely playful and wearable but with a brilliant high fashion edge to it. Perfect Autumn/Winter animal styling to complete the catwalk experience, love the wild hair, wolfy eyebrows and adorable animal headpieces.

Todd Lynn

We can always rely on Todd Lynn to bring us a mix of exciting shapes and interesting materials, this season is no exception.
I expect to see more of his garments featured in editorials this year.

Richard Nicoll Autumn/Winter 2010

Richard Nicoll has been another one of my favourite collections this season, I adore his use of colour- nudes to start, then burnt red/ orange mixed with a subtle taupe, and to finish a whimsical blue in gorgeous contrasting fabrics, heavy velvet and light chiffon.

I particularly like the head coverings and gloves as styling and the simplicity of the hair and make up really looks good.

John Rocha Autumn/Winter 2010

Unfortunately I missed this show, it got to full capacity and they wouldn't let anyone else in,
But thanks to Catwalking I can show some images.

First of all I think the styling is excellent, and loved that it was both menswear and womenswear.
Superb bowler hats for the boys and high headpieces for the girls finished off the entire look.

Tough leather and spiked pieces contrasting with the softness of the feminine cream silk pieces and the semi laced black ensembles is to die for.
Also love the footwear for both the men and women; shiny knee-high boots and chunky suede platform lace ups.

LFW Continued...

Louise Goldin

Haunting string soundtrack, futuristic military inspired silhouettes; amazing palette of navy, olive and black with hints of blue, red and yellow underneath in the form of Swarovski Crystalized shorts.
Louise Goldin has truly become a celebrated name in fashion and you can clearly see why this Autumn/Winter- her best collection yet; flawless styling, designs to perfection and the unique style of her signature knits and crystals perfectly placed for that all together  immaculate look.

Welsh Designers Collective
Great goodie bag at this one- small bottle of whiskey, big wooly socks,
and welsh cakes, lovely.

Emma Griffiths

Nude and black, subtle sculpture, beautiful coat and interesting ties and panelling.

Josie Beckett

Cute, wearable, tudor inspired pieces from Josie Beckett, good combination of colours and nice print detailing.
